Anonymous protests Scientology, Round 2

On March 15, 2008, the online group Anonymous protested the Church of Scientology for the second time.

"Big Blue", Hollywood, CA

A similar amount of protestors showed up, a few hundred probably. The vibe was definitely different than 2/10. 3/15 is L. Ron Hubbard's birthday, so the church throws a big birthday bash. They had the street blocked off and had big screen TV's up showing their videos. There was a large police presence, but the protestors were allowed to be everywhere except where the fair was. The TV's had speakers which were quite loud, which made chanting by anonymous difficult.

Scientologists were out in force attempting to identify anonymous members. The first photo was taken three blocks away from the protest, they were filming *everyone* approaching the area.

The police were accommodating. When the Scientologists tried to block off the sidewalk with their own "sidewalk closed" signs the police informed them that they couldn't do that. This officer kindly warned protesters against being in traffic. Youtube video

Inside the scientology area were tables and refreshments. I didn't see any cake though.

Many people were interested in what the protest was about.

Shriners Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA

The LAPD at the Shrine Auditorium was much less accommodating than Hollywood had been. As soon as I arrived they decided to close the sidewalk and force all of the protestors about 100 feet back. They didn't give an explanation, but when questioned about it Sergeant Pytel said it was closed for "Public Safety" and would not elaborate.

The same heads of security were at the Shrine.

The scientologists were arriving at the back door, many were bussed in. A quick rain storm happened right as their big party was about to start.

I'm not sure who these guys were, but they were on the scientologists side of the street.

This guy was fingered as being a scientologist spy.
