Arizona trip, Day 8 - December 29, 2007

Grand Canyon

Did you know it costs $25 to get a car into the Grand Canyon? Well, I do now... I started out at the south rim in the Village. then tried to stay ahead of the approaching snow storm. I hit each overlook about 10 minutes before the snow hit :)

Sheer Cliff

Once you exit the park heading northeast you're back on an indian reservation. There was an overlook off to the side of the road that had an impressive cliff.

Dinosaur Prints

On the Navajo land there are some authentic dinosaur tracks. There was a friendly man there who gave me a tour around. He also mentioned that NASA tested some of their bots on the land since it is very similar to Mars.

Coal Mine

I was driving along and noticed that the railway to my left was electric. Odd, for the area... Then up comes a gigantic tower with a conveyor belt leading up to the top. It turns out to be a five mile long coal conveyer that takes the coal from the mine to the silo where it waits for the trains to take it away. I snuck onto the coal plant where there were signs that said "no photography without permission", but I was in and out before anyone said to stop. The cranes are huge.
