kallahar writes Business2.com (it's a magazine also) is running a great essay about how the "tech bubble" that was the .com's also happened with railroads in the 1870's, and canals in the 1970's. Both canals and railroads became incredibly important in the 50 years following the bubble, and I am confident that in the next decade technology that failed durring the .com boom will become critical to our way of life (even more so than it already is!)
