kallahar writes The BBC has a story about creating a synthetic virus. Apparently, they ordered junk dna through the postal system, then assembled the pieces into a polio virus. That virus was then able to infect several mice. If the "synthetic" virus has exactly the same genetic structure as the real virus, and it behaves the same way, doesn't that make it the real thing?
